10 days-Kenya and Tanzania Midrange Safari

An early morning drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Situated across the equator, south of Bogoria,  Lake Nakuru is known throughout the world for its flamingos. Docked on the alkaline shore in their thousands, the flamingos give the lake a pink glow, a phenomenon considered one of the world's natural wonders. Lake Nakuru is also a rhino sanctuary, with over 60 white and 40 black home rhinos. The endangered Rothchild's giraffe is found exclusively at Lake Nakuru. 

Arrive in time for lunch, then spend the afternoon relaxing followed by an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at your camp or lodge.

Early morning breakfast and then drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. The Masai Mara is one of the few places on the planet where wildlife still lives relatively undisturbed, roaming freely in the Kenyan plains. The Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras,  Antelopes, and attendant predators from the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Arrive in time for lunch, then go on a game drive in the late afternoon.  

After breakfast, we'll go on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions, as well as its abundant resident wildlife. It is one of the few places where the big five can be seen during a morning game drive.  Nearly 500 species of birds have been recorded, including 16 species of eagle, as well as many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 species of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of vultures.

On this day, you can have morning and evening game drives in the Mara. There is also the option to have a half-day game and relax in the afternoon at the lodge. You are free to organize your preference with your driver guide. 

You will be transferred from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park through the Isebania border. This transfer takes virtually the entire day, but you will be able to go on a game drive for the majority of it (in the morning in Masai Mara and in the afternoon in Serengeti). On the way to the tented camp, take an afternoon wildlife drive.

After breakfast on the second day, you will go on morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti.

The world-famous Serengeti National Park is home to the Great Migration.  Serengeti, meaning "endless plains" in Kiswahili, is a 6,900-square-mile (18,000-square-kilometer) park  in Tanzania, bordering Kenya's Masai Mara. This park is home to over 2 million large animals, including over a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson's gazelles. These strive to survive the onslaught by large predators including lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Many smaller animals, such as rock hyrax and monkeys, and over 500 bird species also call this area home. 

After breakfast, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a protected wildlife conservancy and a World Heritage Site. The area is named after the Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera located within it. The Ngorongoro Crater is a deep, volcanic crater that is the world's largest unflooded and unbroken caldera. It is a breathtaking natural wonder. Meals and lodging are provided by the Bougainvillea Safari Lodge or equivalent

We'll get up early, eat breakfast, and then descend to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing. After a picnic lunch near the hippo lake and more wildlife viewing in the crater, you will drive up the steep road out of the crater and across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara is known for its beauty and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant figs and mahogany trees, which is home to baboon and blue monkey troops. You'll drive through the park, check into your lodge, eat dinner, and then retire for the night.

After breakfast, you will check out of camp and spend the rest of the day on an exciting game drive in the park.  This park is well-known for its tree-climbing lions and flamingos that congregate on the lake's shoreline. Your game drive will take you along the lake's shore, where you will see giraffes and buffalo in the foreground, with the lake, flamingos, and flat plains in the background. You will leave the park in the afternoon and return to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at the airport. This is where your safari will come to an end.
